Peoria Shower

Somehow time slipped away from me right before Colby came and I missed posting the shower that some friends did for me here in Peoria. My good friend Lindsey offered to throw the shower for me and she teamed up with a mutual friend in our ward, Toni. Toni happens to work for Kim at The Tomkat Studio which is a well known blog for party inspiration and because of that, she decided to use my shower as a new line of party product for their company! That meant professional pics of my shower :) not to mention super cute decor and delicious food. And I really can't complain because I don't think I even took my camera... I don't know why I always seem to do that.

I had a fabulous time and am so thankful for such good friends who were so willing to do this for me. You all are the best! You know who you are :)

Here are a few pics from the shower that I got from The Tomkat Studio blog. You can see more pics here.

He's a Talker

Every time I try to catch Colby with the video camera he becomes so interested in the camera that he stops doing whatever I want to tape. We had been trying to tape him while he was talking away but hadn't been able to get a good stretch yet. So one morning while I was getting ready, he was laying on the bed just hanging out by himself, jabbering away. I quickly pulled out the camera and decided to film from afar and zoom in. His talking didn't last too long, but you get the idea of how cute it is. :) But of course I am his Mom, so I think everything he does is pretty dang cute!

He loves talking to us, but he also loves talking to his toy animals. It's actually pretty hilarious. He'll just sit there underneath his play mat and talk and talk to the hanging safari animals like their his best buds. But he especially loves talking with his Daddy. After Spencer gets home from school everyday, Colby will just sit with him and talk forever! I love it!

:)

This is one of the first times we heard Colby laugh and we were actually able to catch it on camera which was kind of a miracle considering his laughing spells at the time usually only lasted about 30 seconds. For some reason he thought whatever I was doing was funny. :)

He used to only laugh when he was super tired, right before bed, which is when we took this video. But today he was laughing ALL day! He's getting more ticklish and while I was swabbing some medicine on his cheek today, he started laughing so hard probably because I was tickling his mouth! Anyways... SO CUTE! We love hearing him laugh!

Cousins

Colby and Chloe were born about 2 weeks apart, Colby on June 1, and Chloe on June 13. These little ones were the last two of the LONG line of cousins born on the Brems side... seven in the same school year. Of course we had to get some pics with the two babes in their scrubs! They were a little camera shy. :)

3 months

We've been taking a picture each month next to his cute little puppy from Grandma Brems since he was a newborn to watch how he is growing. I haven't posted any of them yet, so that will have to be in another post to compare. But he has seriously grown out of his "newborn looking" stage to me. He's a growing boy!!

Speaking of growing... look who can sit up in his bumbo?!?! He gets pretty tired so doesn't last too long yet but holy smokes! He is getting so big!

He is so full of personality :)

We were watching Daddy's volleyball game and he would not take his eyes off the game. He was their biggest fan :)

This is a random post, but here are some things that we want to remember about our three month old little man!

*He's not a huge fan of being swaddled anymore... he really loves to spread his arms and legs out.

*For the most part, goes to bed around 7 pm and doesn't usually wake up until 4:45 am or so for a feeding. After he eats he falls right back to sleep and doesn't wake up until 7 am. We are LOVING it!

*loves to eat his hands, arms, or anything he can get his mouth next to

*drools like a maniac!!

*is sooo smiley... especially right after he wakes up from a nap. That is, if he wakes up on the right side of the bed. ;)

*started laughing about a week ago, but has only done it about five times

*He is starting to recognize when we are right there next to him and when we have left him for a second to play with his toy by himself. Notice I said, "toy." His only toy so far has been his play yard which he absolutely LOVES. He will just sit there and talk and talk and talk with those little dangling stuffed animals like they are real people. :)

*still is not a huge fan of his swing. He really just likes to be held and be part of the action!

*He's getting much better at going places with me. He is enjoying his carseat more and doesn't mind being in it for a few hours while we run some errands. Actually, as we speak, he is taking a nap in his carseat and it has lasted more than 20 minutes!!! We're talking 2 hours people! That's a record!

*Recognizes our voices and has started turning his head to find us when we're talking to him.

*Still kicks his legs and swings his arms like a mad man. I know I don't have enough energy in my body to do that anymore... it looks like a pretty good workout and he is usually super sweaty when I pick him up afterwards.

*Loves to dance with Dad in the kitchen while Mom makes dinner. He'll just sit there and stare and smile at Spencer while he is sung to. So cute.

*Poor little guy got thrush about a week ago. He was a champ and got through it and it has already cleared up. Good thing I caught it early.

*He is SUCH a talker! He loves people and interacting with anyone who will be patient enough to sit and wait for him to finally get out all those coos that he wants to say. It is super cute watching him make all the actions with his face like he is talking and then finally figuring out that he can do it and just belting out coos. It's sooo fun!

*He really loves patti cake

*Loves to stand up on your lap

*He's found his yelling voice a few times. :) Every once in a while he'll let out a yell instead of a cry. It's really short, loud and hilarious. I'm not sure that he wants me to think he is trying to be funny though.

*We haven't had any T.V. for the past month or so, so every few days I'll put in a movie for us to watch while we are doing things around the house. He already loves to watch all the pretty colors and turns his head in whatever direction the sound is coming from

*Just a few days ago he decided that he didn't want to take a bottle from me. He's starting to figure it out.

First Day of School

Well it's that time of year again. School started for Spencer on August 29th this year and boy were we... NOT... ready! We loved our time together as a family this summer without any ties to school and the super busy schedule that it keeps for Spence. Spencer has jumped back into high gear so easily though and has been doing really well, as usual. I'm so glad he is the one that is doing this extra schooling and not me... he was really made for it.

This year brings on a longer day for the second year dental students at Midwestern. He is there from 8 am - 5 pm which is much different than last year but he loves that it is more hands on work instead of sitting in lecture for the majority of the time. As for me, I just hang out with Colby at home and love every second of it. It's been so nice to have Spencer around for the first few months of Colby's life during the nights of no sleep and crazy hormone changes. Since we've been back home in Arizona I feel like I am pretty much back to normal (having a ton more sleep might have a lot to do with it :) ) and I am really loving life at home with our little boy attached to my hip.

But what would the first day of school be without some pics?! Here are my two boys with their scrubs on the morning of. :)

Like father, like son.
